| The beach adjacent to the St Vlas marina
is a 5 minute walk along the seafront from Sun Coast Villas, with
umbrellas and sunbeds for hire, and a small café for refreshments.
Messambria Fort has its own private beach directly in front of
the complex.
The Black Sea coast is the border between Europe and Asia, with
an excellent combination of mountains and sea. Settlement dates
back to the 2nd Century AD and evidence of its rich history and
cultural past can still be seen today.
Old Nessebar
The ancient town of Nessebar is a town of historic significance
and has been designated a UNESCO world heritage site. The town was
one of the most important Byzantine towns on the Black Sea Coast
during the middle ages. The city's ancient monuments from its 1,000
year history include the acropolis, temple of Apollo, an agora,
the fortress and the Stara Mitropolia Basilica. The ancient wooden
houses are typical of Black Sea 18th & 19th century architecture.
Nessebar lies on a peninsular 9 km from St Vas and can be accessed
by boat from the marina, or by bus or taxi. The town provides a
romantic setting for an evening meal in one of its many restaurants
overlooking the sea.
Sozopol
If you fancy venturing a littler further, Sozopol is a picturesque
ancient town dramatically located on a headline that stretches out
into the sea. The city has a wealth of architecture, with cobbled
lanes, ancient houses, impressive beaches and seaside restaurants
that boast stunning views.
Sozopol is located approximately 70 km south of St Vlas, and there
are regular excursions from St Vlas to Sozopol.
Restaurants & Nightlife
There are many restaurants in and around St Vlas, and eating out
is still very inexpensive. Messambria and Sun Coast Villas each
have their own restaurants on site if you fancy relaxing closer
to home. Alternatively, you can dine at one of the local restaurants
in the village, or walk along the coast and use any of the restaurants
in neighbouring resorts.
You can also catch a taxi or boat to Nessebar and dine in a local
restaurant overlooking the sea, with views stretching across the
bay to St Vlas and Sunny Beach.
With so many restaurants offering excellent food and local wines,
stunning views and prices to suit every budget, you can try a different
restaurant every night.
There are local bars in the village where you can enjoy Bulgarian
wine and beer, or enjoy the sociable atmosphere of the resort bars.
If you prefer an evening with a bit more ‘hustle and bustle’,
Sunny Beach is only 4 km from St Vlas, and is a larger and busier
resort, offering entertainment both day and night. There are a host
of nightclubs, casinos and bars, with a variety of acts and entertainment.
There are also several shopping centres selling clothes, CD’s
and souvenirs.
Taxis to and from Sunny Beach are plentiful and cheap.
Car Hire
Car hire is available from Bourgas airport and there are several
car hire companies operating in the village and in neighbouring
resorts. |
